What is going on with the framerate?

#1

Hi,
I took a series of videos the past weekend, in similar light condition and with the same camera setting. I noticed that the framerate of the videos (the fisheye “raw” video) is all over the place, starting from 26.64 fps up to the standard 29.97fps. Also, timelapse videos were 30fps.
What is going on there? Is the nominal framerate value reliable?

Hi,
I do have a theory regarding this. I believe that all the videos are filmed correctly in 29.97fps. Then there is a bit of mess happening. I think that the internal time measurement starts 5 seconds or so earlier than video recording. At the end of the video recording, the camera calculates the FPS from the time and the number of recorded frame. You will see that this causes short videos to have a significantly lowe nominal FPS. Longer video approach the nominal 29.97.
So, for your problem, just get going as if it is 29.97, overwrite the value in editing.
